Beautiful day today. Minutes ago Roberta put a thick yellow envelope ( a Bubble Mailer) on my desk. It feels soft. There are several stickers on it and a machine stamp, too: $ 8.70! Posted in New Milford on may 13. A green US Postal Service sticker, Customs CN 22 (Old C1), states the value $ 20, the weight 14.9 oz, commercial sample, all certified with signature by Mr or Ms Euc. Then a white and pink sticker also from US Postal Service with an eagle logo. The envelope is stamped four times, with date and postoffice. Now I know that New Milford is in Connecticut.
It opens easily and out come 14.9 oz of News from The Republic of Letters.
Every single edition brought me together with an author I had never read before. The greatest surprise and pleasure were writers in my 1st or 2nd language: Sebald and Tozzi. And a story which turned out to be written at a place close to my country home.
Who will it be this time ? Chantal Hunt ? Henryk Skwarczynsky ? Yuri Buida ? Conall Ryan ? Or something in P.B.'s Notebook.
You will know.
